The 37-year-old, from Middleton, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment after a fight broke out at the Omnibus Pub, Belle Isle, at around 11.15pm on Sunday, June 14.

A source – who did not want to be named – said a scuffle had broken out in the pub between the victim and two other drinkers.

He said they attacked him with a pool cue, knocking him to the floor, then stuffed pool balls into socks and battered him around the head with them.

The injured man has now been discharged from hospital.

Anyone who saw the assault or who has any information is asked to contact Holbeck CID on 0845 606 0606.
