A raw day with a chilling wind, and with some standing water to remind us of the week-before's deluges.

Both teams coped well with the conditions, and the game was surprisingly open with good runs from forwards and backs alike.

First blood to Heworth with a converted try looked ominous for the Bronocs – and a few faint hearts were seen to lower their chins.

But Beeston's response was immediate and good flowing rugby produced 4 tries in rapid succession, all of which were converted despite the swirling wind. Heworth crept in with a final converted try before the half time whistle.

Heworth were first off the blocks in the second half and ran in a try to remind the Broncos that they could not sit back and expect to win without a struggle. The strong wind prevented a conversion – and indeed, there were no further kicking points until the final try.

Good solid rugby and hard tackling gave the Broncos the platform for a succession of three tries without reply. Heworth then scrambled their final try before the Broncos capped their win with a further two line-crossings.

The scorer of the Broncoslast two tries was Lewis Brown.
