All three post offices threatened with closure in Beeston are shut after post office bosses rejected pleas to save them from the axe.
The branches on Beeston Road, on the Cardinal Estate and on Cross Flatts Avenue are among 22 branches in Leeds which are to shut

Beeston in south Leeds is one of the hardest areas to be hit with the closure of three of its post offices.

Councillor Adam Ogilvie (Lab, Beeston & Holbeck), who spearheaded a protest campaign in his ward only last month, said: "This is a disaster, especially for the elderly who are going to have to drag themselves all the way over to the Old Lane Post Office.

"It's going to put huge pressure on the remaining two post offices in the Beeston area. I don't know how they're going to cope. It's a retrograde move."
