I am looking for Thomas Watson born 1822 and Elizabeth Hobson born aprox 1872, married in 1892, at the Parish Church of Little Holbeck.

The address they were living at the time of the marriage was 10 and 11 Terrace Street Holbeck.

Could anyone tell what is the name of the Parish Church of Little Holbeck?

I have been undertaking my family history for the last five years and it is nearly complete. In fact I am about to begin writing it all down in a kind of booklet for my family members present and future.

I have most of what I need but also need additional information for the family that lived in Holbeck between c1830 and 1950s. I am interested in a bit of background info (if available) regarding the surrounding area and want to learn a bit about what it was like to live there in the nineteenth century.

I also have one or two small loose ends that need tying up, such as a couple of family members that I haven't been able to trace for one reason or another and also any info about the Holbeck Lane Workhouse Infirmary where my Gr x 2 and x3 Grandfathers died. I am pretty confident that they weren't inmates their, but was taken to the infirmary because of it's locality.

If anyone can help or can suggest anything that might be helpful, please let me know.

The majority of my research has been in North Yorkshire where my family lived before Leeds, but would still like to fill in a few gaps.

My name is Elizabeth Paddock nee Bywater, and I am researching my Bywater family history. I have gone back to a gentleman who was christened in Holbeck in 1814. I would like to know whether anyone can tell me the names of the parishes that were serving the Holbeck area at this time.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa, and I cannot get there to see for myself.

Can anyone help?

The Salvation Army at Fox Terrace.

I am trying to find photos and details of my grandfather George Jackson who came from USA and was the first coloured man to join the Salvation Army at Fox Terrace. He played the drum on the picture above.

I only know that he married Keziah Mills in 1908 and moved to West Ardsley and died in 1924 with a brain tumour (certiciates have been sought).

I desperately want to secure copies of any photos anyone may have had and hear stories as to who he was.

I also want to find out where he was born. I understand he came from Ohio USA but do not know if this is where he was born.

If anyone can help me I would be so grateful.

I am trying to trace any relatives of Sergeant Kenneth Herbert Allaker who was killed in action aged 22 on May 25, 1944.

He was a member of 76 Squadron RAF Volunteer Reserve and was buried in Goirle Roman Catholic cemetery in Holland.

His parents were Herbert Philip and Daisy Allacker and his widow was Pauline Audrey Allacker all listed as coming from Beeston, Leeds.

A Dutch resident of Goirle who works for the Regional Archives has requested my assistance ,as he wishes to setup a lasting memorial to all the brave men and women who lost their lives in defending the freedom of the citizens of Goirle.

I personally have seen the grave of Sgt Allaker as my own father is also buried in the same cemetery.

My mother Edith Hattersley was born at 10, Derwent View, Holbeck December 1904. Does anyone know whether this street still exists?

I would also like to know if there was a local church where she would possibly have been baptised/christened. Her father Jesse Hattersley was a carter (presumably horse & cart, as he was listed as a carrier on several other certificates.)

They left the area sometime around 1914-1918 when his horse was requistioned for the war effort-or so I have been led to believe.

I am looking into my family tree. My father was born in Holbeck or Beeston on 22.09.1922.

I wonder if any website users can give me any information to confirm this.
